Yo, Manju.
Long time no see. Since the last Idul Fitri, wasn't it? I remember when we went to our Japanese teacher, Bejo-sensei's house. We ate a lot there. Hahaha. I heard that you've got your Bachelor's degree. I am glad that your thesis defense went well. I am sorry I couldn't support you there. Anyway, congratulations!

Oh right! Guess what, I went to Yogyakarta last Sunday! I actually wanted to meet you there, but I couldn't because I went there with my club members. My friends and I went to Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. We were there for comparative study visit. The committees, Student English Activity or SEA members, welcomed us warmly. I personally felt really honored to be able to come there. We were about to observe an event. It was a toastmaster competition. At first, I was wondering what kind of competition was that. The first thing that came to my mind was a bread. Hahaha. But, then I got a gist about it. It was a kind of speech competition.

The toastmaster competition there was really amazing. The theme was about the Indonesian youngsters for the better future. All of the competitors were experts. Their English speaking skill were really good. I felt really small there. Hahaha. There were three rounds. The preliminary round, the semifinal round, and the final round. We only got to see the preliminary round because we had to go back to Purworejo before twelve.

Before we went back, some of us were asked to give an impression and message about the event. At first, they asked for a volunteer. But, because no one wanted to, they choose one of us. I was surprised when the MC asked 'the guy with glasses from UMP' to come forward because he meant me. I was the only glasses-wearing male from UMP there. I came forward reluctantly and felt really nervous. I introduced myself and just said amazing, amazed, and amazing again. I was really nervous there you know. In front of me were all great people and I was nothing there. Oh, and my club president looked really happy there because she met many handsome guys. Many of us called her 'Ulo' or a snake. XD

After we gave SEA our token of appreciation, we took pictures together with SEA members and the toastmaster competitors. Soon after that, we had lunch in Griya Wisma UMY and did Dzuhur prayer. Then, we returned to Purworejo. One of my friend, Rudi, got off in Pasar Gamping because he wanted to go to his sister's house. Pasar Gamping... What a nostalgic place. I think you know why. Hehe.

I think that's all I can tell you about the comparative study visit. Hey, I want to hear about your life after the S1 graduation! Where are you working now? I can't wait to get your reply! Keep healthy and don't get sick. See you later, Nju. I'll curse you if you don't reply this letter. Haha.

Your absolutely best friend

  3. Hello the guy with glasses from UMP 👋 How fluently your speaking is! When you gave an impression and message for that event. I think you have to follow Toasmaster Competition in the next year. Fighting 😊
